On April 15, 1955, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Incorporated Zeta Gamma Zeta chapter was chartered. The first president of the chapter Margaret Smith Redvict and others were attending meetings and activities with the Tampa chapters, when they decided it was time to form a chapter in St. Petersburg.
Eight beautiful Zeta women (Margaret Smith Redvict, Mary Turner, Katherine Valentine, Inez Hayward, Emma Peaton, Elsie McLaurin , Affie Teal and Rose Sheppard) came together with local Phi Beta Sigma brothers to discuss chartering the chapter. Zeta Gamma Zeta was born from this vision.
The objectives of finer womanhood, service, sisterly love, and scholarship have brought together women from all parts of the world. The membership includes women in all professions with college training, Baccalaureates, Masters, Doctoral and professional degrees.
The Zeta Gamma Zeta chapter of St. Petersburg fosters the ideals of service, charity, scholarship, civil and cultural endeavors, sisterhood and finer womanhood. The local chapter also supports the national campaign of Z-Hope: Zetas Helping Other People Excel- through Mind, Body and Spirit.
The chapter meets at the South Branch Library, 2300 Roy Hanna Drive S., St. Petersburg, FL. 33712 at 10:30am on the second Saturday of each month.
